Offline Circle – 6 Month Community Journey

🌿 Offline Circle – Building Real Connections in Cork – Our 6 Month Journey 💛

In a world where most communication happens online, Offline Circle was created with one simple idea: helping people reconnect in real life.

Over the past six months, our community in Cork has continued to grow through reading sessions, walking meetups, social games, and simple moments of connection. What started as a small idea has become a welcoming and supportive community filled with friendly faces, meaningful conversations, and unforgettable memories.

📚 More Than Just a Book Club

One of our biggest activities has been the Weekly Book Reading Sessions held every Saturday.

Over the last six months, we successfully organised more than 20 book reading sessions where people came together to read, relax, share thoughts, and enjoy good conversations.

But something interesting happened during these sessions.

People didn’t just come for books.

They came for connection.

Some members arrived quietly with a book in their hands and left with new friendships, new confidence, and a sense of belonging.

Our sessions became a safe and welcoming space for:

  • Meeting new people
  • Improving reading habits
  • Practising English
  • Relaxing from busy daily life
  • Having meaningful conversations

And of course… sometimes we spent more time chatting than reading 😂

🚶‍♂️ Walking Together, Connecting Together

Offline Circle also organised several walking and outdoor social activities around Cork. Over the last six months, we explored the Marina, Blackrock, Glen, Douglas, Passage West, and the Greenway — almost exploring all of Cork together 🌿🚶‍♂️.

These walks helped create natural and relaxed social interaction.

No pressure.

No competition.

Just people walking, talking, laughing, and enjoying the moment.

For many people, especially newcomers to Cork or those looking for community, these walks became an important part of their social life.

🎲 Games, Laughter & Community

This year we also introduced social games and board games events.

What we expected to be “simple games” quickly turned into nights full of laughter, chaos, teamwork, and friendly competition.

We organised 3 social games events that brought together members from different backgrounds and age groups.

The result?

People who arrived as strangers left feeling like part of a community.

💛 A Community Built on Simplicity

Offline Circle is not about being perfect.

It’s about creating simple moments:

  • Sitting together with books
  • Sharing coffee after activities
  • Walking through Cork together
  • Laughing during games
  • Supporting each other
  • Feeling welcome

Over time, the community naturally became more than an events group.

It became a small family.

🌍 A Diverse & Inclusive Space

One of the most beautiful parts of Offline Circle is the diversity of people who attend.

Local residents, international students, professionals, newcomers to Cork, runners, readers, creatives, introverts, and extroverts all found a place within the community.

People joined not because they needed a “perfect event,” but because they wanted genuine human connection.

Challenges & Growth

Like any growing community, we also faced challenges.

Finding suitable spaces for larger groups became difficult at times, especially during busy weekends or special events in Cork.

We also learned how important organisation and communication are as attendance continues growing.

But every challenge helped us improve.

And every week we continue learning how to create better experiences for our members.

Looking Ahead

Offline Circle is continuing to grow, and we’re excited about what’s coming next.

Future plans include:

  • More outdoor summer activities
  • Community picnics
  • Friendly social walks
  • Singles social events
  • More games nights
  • Outdoor reading sessions
  • New collaborations and community spaces

Our goal remains simple:

To help people disconnect from screens and reconnect with real life.

Thank You

To everyone who attended a reading session, joined a walk, played games, shared conversations, or simply showed up — thank you.

A special thank you to our amazing team and organisers who continue giving their time, energy, ideas, and support to help build this community 🌿

You helped build this community.

Offline Circle continues growing because of the people who bring kindness, openness, and positive energy to every event.

And this is only the beginning.
